The wife and I recently went on a month-long travel vacation. One of our stops was the ancient kingdom of Ayutthaya in Thailand. The first Wat (temple) we visited in Ayutthaya was the impressive Wat Phu Khao Tong (Golden Mountain Temple).
Notice the golden tip?
Climb the steps up the temple, and one gets a wonderful view of the surrounding area from this level.
View of the Boulevard from the Northern side of the Temple.
Chedi. south of the main temple.
Stupa. Located south of the temple, near the monastery
Entrance to the Monastery
Golden Buddha statues. located southwest of the main temple.
View of the Golden Mountain Temple from the south west.
We went here as part of a tour that we booked from our hotel in Bangkok. I later found out that most group tours do not pass by this temple. I guess we were lucky. This temple was one of the nicest we saw in Thailand.
